Wow, I cannot believe how wonderful this is. God has truly blessed me beyond anything I could ever have imagined.
So, it has been a while since I had a chance to write, but don't worry. I'm here; I'm safe; I'm happy. For those of you who have not found out yet, I have my own dorm room to myself. Orientation was fun, despite being stung by a bee and having a terrible headache the whole day on Friday. After orientation, Rhonda and I came to Baldwin Hall to look at my dorm room but soon discovered that my name was not on the door it was supposed to be. After going over to the Residence Life office, we found out that God had blessed me with my own room and that...I could move in that night instead of on move-in day when everything was sure to be hectic.
After Rhonda and Charlie made dinner on Friday, Nonna took me to walmart to buy sheets, a plastic bed cover to avoid the germs, and a few other things I would need right away in my dorm. And that night, I moved in. Of course, Nonna provided me with several things to use like a computer, a tv and dvd player, and a lot of support. We didn't know how we were going to make it up three flights of stairs to get to my room with all of that, but God brought us another blessing- actually three blessings: an RA from the first floor from Jamaica, and my two new friends from Vietnam Chi and Loan (Lo-ann). The RA made it to where we could use the elevator and all three girls helped us move everything from the car into the elevator.
I didn't get completely settled in on Friday because it was about 9:30-10:00 and I was getting very tired from the day. I did get a good night of sleep and enjoyed myself going to bed earlier than I have pretty much all summer. Yesterday turned out nicely, as well. I got up around 5:50 in the morning and fixed everything that I had left the night before. Later in the day I went to a "fiesta" of sorts to welcome people, but I brought my food back to my room because Nonna and Charlie came to help me with the computer. They brought me a surge protector and moved the second bed in my room straight up against the wall to give me more space until someone comes to get it out of my room early this week.
To use the internet connection in my dorm, I had to run updates on the computer which took forever... but it wasn't just me, it seem. Everyone said they had problems with the updates and finding the right ones, but I did it, as you see, by myself.
Last night was a casino night party which I went to in order to meet people. I met people I had already talked to, though, at lunch on orientation day, all dancers in the dance program here, but all of them really nice. There is Olivia, Josh, JM, and Julia, but her name isn't spelled that way. I'm not sure how to spell it yet. I didn't win anything at Casino night, but I'm glad I went, even though I'm still tired from not enough sleep.
I got up this morning and went to breakfast. I'll take a shower soon, but I wanted to get to breakfast because the food here is actually really wonderful. I was shocked and amazed on Friday when the pizza turned out delicious, the fish was delectable, and the cafeteria is amazing. This morning, I had sausage, hashbrowns, a piece of French toast, blueberry yogurt, pineapple, apple juice, and a small, freshly made in front of me Mushroom and bell pepper omelet.
Cinderella is extremely happy that her dream is coming true and is dancing the night away with Prince Charming. (Chris isn't here, but you get the picture. Our relationship is still strong and wonderful. )
